In general, you should follow the following procedure when painting RV cabinets or walls.
-
Plan your approach:
Make a selection of the colors that you would like to use and decide where they will be placed. Will you be painting the ceiling of your RV? If so, what colors are you planning to use? Are you planning to match the trim around the tops of your walls with the walls themselves? If so, how will you achieve that? Do you prefer to use a sprayer, or would you rather use a roller and brush to apply the paint? When is the project expected to be completed? What is the expected completion date for your project? Before going to a paint store, ask yourself all these questions in order to make a more informed decision.
-
Available products:
For your RV interior and cabinets, the right paint and primer will depend on the project. With solid wood, a different process is needed compared with pressed wood covered in vinyl laminate.
-
Preparation:
If you don’t want to paint certain surfaces, tape them off or cover them with tape. Remove any furniture and flooring before painting.
-
Prime & Sand:
Applying a good bonding primer before painting RV cabinets is the best way to guarantee good results. Solid wood should be sanded and laminated surfaces should be scuffed. Solid wood should be sanded first.
-
Painting itself:
The interior of your RV may need to be painted using a paint sprayer, or you may have to use rollers and paint brushes to paint sections of the interior.
