It is at high elevations, some even exceeding 6,000 feet, where these places are located.

Cedar City Petroglyphs Dispersed Camping

By examining the petroglyphs and markings left by later explorers and pioneers, you can brush up on your history. The surrounding desert terrain is stunning and you can even see ancient dinosaur tracks. Grazing sheep may also be encountered. A few miles north of Cedar City, this area is just off Interstate 15 in southwestern Utah. There are many wide-open sites along numerous dirt roads to choose from.

Camping in Green River off the Wild Horse Road

There is no cell service here, so if you’ve been wanting to unplug from your phone, this is the perfect place. Stunning slot canyons can also be explored here, or you can simply sit still for a stunning sunset. Besides the Wild Horse Canyon, the Goblin Valley is also just minutes away and certainly worth a visit. The San Rafael Swell geological feature is located in east-central Utah close to these sites.

Crescent Junction BLM 144 Dispersed Camping

Here you’ll find plenty of room to roam, and Arches National Park is almost on your doorstep. There aren’t always people around when boondocking, but that’s one of the great things about it. While scouting for the perfect spot, stay alert for cows and cactus thorns. It should be one where you can catch sunrises and sunsets just by turning your head. There is also another advantage to this site, which is the fact that it is very convenient to Interstate 70.

Dispersed camping along the Zion Scenic Byway

It’s another large space you can use to spread out and enjoy a little privacy. You’re only 15 minutes away from Zion National Park’s east entrance, so it’s an excellent location. There are some sections of pavement missing, however, and the road is rough and rutty. Your tow vehicle may be needed to scout the area based on the kind of rig you have. There are lots of big rock fire pits to enjoy if it isn’t too hot.
