When choosing the right WiFi booster, you’ve got to consider a few things. There are hundreds of WiFi boosters. Keep these factors in mind when shopping.
Type
You can get three types of booster:
- 2.4GHz Range Extenders
- Dual-band (5GHz and 2.4GHz)
- Mobile Hotspot / Wireless Extenders
Wireless boosters are easy to install, so most people can use them. There are also WiFi repeaters and extenders you can use.
Security
Make sure your devices aren’t accessible to others. Any booster you choose should have security protocols, so use a strong password.
Internet speed
Boosters can transfer data at a maximum of ten megabits per second. Data capacity is more important than internet speed. You can only go as fast as the internet connection in the park. RV parks with slow internet service, limited speed users, or overloaded users will still be limited to the internet quality of their RV parks. You can test your park’s speed with a speed test.
Device connection
Most boosters work with all WiFi-enabled devices. Dual-band boosters should show both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands. Choose a booster for your products.
Mobile hotspot
Wireless extenders with SIM cards or your cellular data plan can be used if WiFi isn’t available. The cost of a booster will go up if you add mobile hotspot functionality.
